Our Story

This farm is where we raised our cattle, our two children and now our grandkids. It's been our home for over 35 years, and on March 2, 2012, twelve tornados swept through the tri-state area, and we thought we might lose it. Our farm was hit by a deadly EF4 tornado. Our house was miraculously missed, but it demolished four of our five barns.
In the aftermath of the tornado, we rebuilt our black wood tobacco barn, and in its place, we created a new barn. Now originally, it was designed to shelter equipment and nothing more, but we received so many requests from friends and family that we decided to open our barn (and farm) to the public. Thus began Honey Locust Farms, LLC's relationship with the community. |
According to the States' Agritourism Statutes in the state of Kentucky, agritourism in 247.800 and 247.810 is defined as "the act of visiting: (a) A farm or ranch; or (b) Any agricultural, horticultural, or agribusiness operation; for the purpose of enjoyment, education, or active involvement in the activities of the farm, ranch, or operation." These activities aren't limited to just harvesting or farm work.
